- In algebra, the square of a number is that number multiplied by itself. Therefore Carl squared = C2.
- Carl’s sister Chloe is a Goth. A “Goth” is an alternative subculture of music and fashion. Its origin came from a Germanic Tribe, the Goths. It was later used to describe “barbaric” medieval architecture. The term later applied to 18th century literature, which had a fascination with death and the supernatural.
- Carl’s girlfriend Skye, a crusader for “Save the Strays” (a fictitious group modelled on the SPCA) is also a Vegan. According to a survey by the National Institute of Nutrition, only four percent of Canadians consider themselves vegetarian.
- Carl’s best friend Jamie is a Guerrilla Film Maker. Some famous Guerrilla film-making tips: (1) Need an actor to walk across the ceiling? Build a floor that looks like a ceiling and turn the camera upside down. (2) Need a film noir look? Water the streets. (3) Need fake sweat? Fake it with petroleum jelly and a spritz of water; the beading will show up better on film.
- On February 23, 1997, a group in Scotland, headed by Dr. Ian Wilmut, created the first clone of a large mammal, a sheep named Dolly. Dolly inspired us to clone humans.
- Unlike the motion picture Jurassic Park, it is unlikely mankind will be able to clone dinosaurs. We have no dinosaur DNA from which to make these clones.

- How many drawings in a typical episode of Carl Squared? None! Carl2 is a 2D digitally animated show that relies for the most part on “symbol manipulation”.
- It takes about 25 animators, working in two shifts, five weeks to animate each episode of Carl2.
- The animation for an entire episode can be saved on a pocket drive about the size of your wallet.
